The Boudha Main Road in Boudhanath is MAD!

You walk around the Stupa and even though everything seems quite busy; with nuns, monks and pilgrims, kids coming home from school, shoppers, dogs, Buddhist music, the occasional (well actually one, very small) cow and even the odd car or motorbike, this is nothing but nothing compared to the Boudha Main Road.

Not much else to say here, except there’s a new video or two of it at my Photobucket site (details below) and some pictures here:

Here’s the link to the video – hope it works!:

Like I said, lots of busy, hard-working people going about their daily lives in a very tricky situation.  Boudha Main Road is the road to Kathmandu centre itself and a dusty, noisy place to buy pretty much anything you need.  The nearest supermarket to the Stupa, Gemini (which has a cash machine outside), is here, as are a multitude of shops, stalls, taxi drivers and street sellers selling everything from shoe shine to sweetcorn cobs and cooked food.  You feel the dust and bustle the minute you turn the corner from one any of the Stupa entrances.  It is chaotic and fascinating – a subject I suspect I will return to quite a few times, hence its ‘upgrade’ from being an aside earlier.

And did I mention, it is MAD… :) :) .

Namste :) .
